Government announces more funding for carers
The government has unveiled its New Deal for Carers, which it hopes will provide more funding to local councils to provide better respite care.
Announcing the new initiative, the Department of Health revealed that £33 million of additional funding would be made available to carers. Of this money, £25 million will be used to deliver emergency respite care. Continue reading…
Charities delivering public services ‘face tough decisions’
A majority of charities with annual income over £500,000 deliver public services for public authorities, but many are not being paid the full cost of their work, according to a new report.
The Charity Commission has published the first survey which investigates all the charities in the UK delivering public services. The report looked at a wide range of issues, including full-cost recovery to length of funding agreements. Continue reading…
Schoolchildren to gain global poverty education
Leading international development charity Oxfam has pledged to send its workers out across the country, to teach school children about global poverty.

Health authorities pledge to cut waiting times
A number of local health communities have pledged their support for and confidence in the government’s new 18-week National Health Service waiting time targets.
