Firebuy CEO appointed
Communities and Local Government has announced the appointment of a chief executive officer for Firebuy Limited.
The non-departmental public body, which procures equipment nationally for the Fire and Rescue Service, will be headed by Terry Brewer.
Mr Brewer has been the interim CEO of Firebuy since it was set up in March last year. He was responsible for the company’s initial procurement strategy.
The appointment was made after an open competition.
Previously, as head of procurement for the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, Mr Brewer was responsible for a budget of over £20 million. He oversaw the authority’s public finance initiative which was started in 2001.
He has also worked for the Greater London Council supplies department.
Mr Brewer is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Firebuy was established to enhance savings by negotiating better deals for buying in bulk and preventing duplicate procurement by individual Fire and Rescue Authorities.
