Sussex to discuss building capacity plans

The growth of housing in Sussex over the next 20 years has been discussed by Mid Sussex District Council’s better environmental advisory group today.

An emerging South East Plan, commissioned by central government, requires the local authority to provide an increased number of houses, numbering up to 15,000 by 2026. Continue reading…

Charity Commission board welcomes four new members

A number of new members have been appointed to the Charity Commission board this week, in a move intended to facilitate greater efficiency in the body.

Third sector commissioning gains new director

A new programme director of third sector commissioning has been appointed at the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA), it has been announced.

Sarah Wood has been selected to head up the organisation which the Office for the Third Sector appointed to develop and manage the national third sector commissioning programme in March. Continue reading…

New fund ‘will empower Muslim women’

A new fund has been unveiled today which will provide assistance for community leadership supporting Muslim women and young people, it has been announced.

Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly unveiled the £650,000 Preventing Violent Extremism: Community Leadership Fund, which will disseminate grants to initiatives across the UK. Continue reading…

Third sector strategy ‘will harness youths’ enthusiasm’

A new third sector strategy unveiled today by youth minister Parmjit Dhanda is set to make the most of young people’s enthusiasm for volunteer work.
