Frontline public sector workers to be freed from red tape
A scheme to free front line public sector workers from red tape has been launched by the government.
Cabinet office ministers Hilary Armstrong and Pat McFadden today published the scheme in a bid to make public services run more efficiently.
The plan will see Whitehall departments identify the bureaucracy burden on public services and identify the top ‘irritants’ in each field.
It will also aim to reduce duplicate or unnecessary information requests by departments and give public sector workers a "clear mechanism" with which to challenge obstructive bureaucracy.
Ms Armstrong said at a breakfast discussion today that Communities and Local Government was pledging to cut local government targets from 800 to 200, a cut of 75 per cent.
She also pointed out that Ofsted would reduce the length and frequency of their inspections.
Meanwhile the Department for Health have reduced the amount of data they collect by 28 per cent.
