Acevo consortium wins third sector innovation contract
A new pilot designed to bolster third sector involvement in public services has seen a consortium including The Innovation Unit, Acevo and Headshift awarded a £1.2 million contract.
The decision was unveiled by Phil Hope, third sector minister, who is involved with overseeing charities, the voluntary sector, not-for-profit organisations and non-governmental organisations.
Mr Hope said that the new Innovation Exchange - which is designed to improve innovation in the sector - was an ambitious programme which would aim to bring network partners together.
Under the terms of the contract a range of online resources will be established, designed to bring innovators together and also connect them with sources of investment.
Mr Hope commented: "I’m very pleased that we have found a partner to deliver the Innovation Exchange that combines both the know-how and creativity to make it a real asset for the sector.
"The Innovation Exchange will open up a range of exciting opportunities for people in the Third Sector who have great ideas for making services better."
Acevo, or the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations, boasts over 2,000 members.
It is estimated that the not-for-profit sector now accounts for a collective annual turnover of £46 billion.
