Preparation for not-for-profit recruitment event gathers pace
The build-up has commenced for one of the year’s major not-for-profit sector recruitment events, due to be held on October 12th and 13th in Islington.
Known as forum3, event organisers expect it to attract around 15,000 visitors as well as representatives from a wide range of charities, local government organisations, housing intiatives, social care enterprises and other organisations from the not-for-profit sector. (more…)
Charities ‘need to promote issues over identities’
The current focus from charities on gaining increased media coverage is at the expense of the issues they hope to address.
Such was the suggestion of delegates at the Reporting Poverty seminar, held in London in recent days.
It was suggested that a key reason charities focussed on getting their name in print was to prove to fundraisers and trustees that money was being well spent, Third Sector reports. (more…)
Complaints handling in partnership initiatives to be addressed.
The Local Government Ombudsman has announced plans to develop a more effective structure to address complaints when a partnership of service providers is used.
Issued today, July 10th, a report from the ombudsman suggests that difficulties can arise for the public when dealing with partnership-run services, as they do not know how or to whom they can address their problems. (more…)

‘Quality of leadership’ will determine third sector success
To succeed in its engagements with the public sector the third sector will need to foster high-quality leadership, according to acevo.
The organisation has commissioned a report - entitled The Future of Commissioning: Leadership Challenges - in partnership with Futurebuilders, intended to provide practical advice for providers. (more…)
