Brown creates Business Council

Prime minister Gordon Brown has created a new Business Council for Britain, it has been revealed.

A number of top UK entrepreneurs are to join up to the council in order to advise the new premier on how to improve business in Britain.

The purpose of the council will be for senior representatives of UK-based businesses to advise the government - and indeed Mr Brown - on issues affecting enterprise, business and the long term productivity of the British economy. (more…)

Data protection strategy launched by ICO

A new consultation is being launched by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) on its Data Protection Strategy, it has been announced.

The report will set out how the ICO intends to minimise data protection risk, according to the ICO.

Furthermore, the strategy is set to be launched today (Monday July 2nd) at the Privacy Laws & Business 20th annual conference in Cambridge. (more…)

Youth volunteering ‘to be transformed’ by new fund

A £70 million fund set up to encourage youth volunteering projects is seeking applications for grants up to a value of £100,000.

Youth volunteering charity v has called for community groups and voluntary organisations to apply for the grants, which will be afforded to those encouraging youth action and engagement. (more…)
