Charity innovation providers urged to submit concepts

The Institute of Fundraising has announced that it is once again inviting its network partners to put forward their products for the third sector’s Innovation Zone event.

Local planning laws ‘need to be relaxed’

Local planning laws should be relaxed to allow households to install greener energy sources more easily and generate their own power.

A new study by the New Local Government Network (NLGN) claims that UK households should receive grants and tax rebates to install renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines, with planning legislation relaxed to boost uptake of microgeneration. Continue reading…

Deafblind charity receives development grant

Sense, the national deafblind organisation, has announced that it has received a development grant of £30,000 to support its charity work with older people.

The charity has been awarded the grant by the Freemasons’ Grand Charity for activities in the east of England aimed at preventing older deafblind people from becoming isolated and vulnerable as a result of their disability. Continue reading…

LM launches social enterprise course

The Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM) has created a new three-day course for both novices and experienced managers and consultants in the voluntary sector.

As part of the new course in Understanding Social Enterprise, available at nine centres across the UK initially and leading to a level five new National Qualifications Framework (NQF) award, students will examine case studies from successful and failed social enterprises.

Designed for anyone involved in third sector jobs or relevant talent pools who wants to gain a qualification as evidence of their knowledge and understanding, the course develops analytical skills and requires a minimum of 26 guided learning hours, excluding assessment, to complete.
