Scotland one step closer to seeing unified skills body
Scotland is one step closer to seeing the creation of a unified skills body following the announcement that the two network partners, Careers Scotland and learndirect Scotland would be merged into one body.
The announcement will also be welcome news to those looking into better talent management for local authority jobs as the proposed merger will bring a "new focus on skills" according to education and lifelong learning secretary Fiona Hyslop.
Ms Hyslop went on to illustrate the overall strategy in place to enhance the skills framework in Scotland.
"A key principle of our Scottish skills strategy is building coherent and cohesive structures for skills development and delivery."
Presenting ‘Skills for Scotland, A Lifelong Skills Strategy’, she continued by detailing that a shell organisation would be setup by early 2008 with a more formalised body in place by the end of the financial year.
Last month, FE News reported that Ms Hyslop made a visit to Inverness College to publicise the Skills for Work programme which intends to develop students’ skills beyond the classroom.
