Compact Voice seeks third sector views on development

Posted in News on the September 14th, 2007

Community and voluntary organisations across the UK have been urged this week to express their opinions on the development of Compact, an agreement between such bodies, their network partners and the government.

The representative arm of the organisation, Compact Voice, is seeking feedback on experiences of its operation, Community Newswire reports, prior to reporting its findings to government ministers.

A number of seminars are being held across the country at which holders of third sector jobs can express their views.

Stefan Simanowitz, national manager of Compact Voice, commented on prime minister Gordon Brown’s acknowledgement of the vital role the third sector has to play in contemporary society: "This recognition of the central role of the Compact in developing partnership between government and the sector is very encouraging.

"However, if this partnership is to be meaningful, the sector must be properly represented."

Views expressed at the focus groups will be collated into a report to be presented to parliament in December.

Recent events held by Compact Voice include a discussion on the transformation of public services and another on local sector independence.
