Audit Commission ‘would set up housing standards office’

A new Office for Housing Standards would be created if the Audit Commission were to take up the role of regulator for social housing, it has announced.

EFA calls for discussion on age discrimination

The Employers Forum on Age has in recent days responded to the single equality bill green paper by calling on the government to speak with employers on the subject.

It states that not to do so would be to miss an opportunity to overcome age discrimination in such areas as talent management and e-recruitment. (more…)

‘Personal fulfilment’ drives most working women

More than twice as many working women are motivated by the personal fulfilment that their job affords them than by financial rewards, according to new research.

Publishing new data this week, Diva-Biz has suggested that the majority (51 per cent) of women feel that personal fulfilment is the driving force which drives them into certain talent pools and to seek new roles, whether it be through regional recruitment portals or e-recruitment. (more…)

Women ‘under-represented at local strategic partnership level’

Women are currently under-represented on the boards of local strategic partnerships in England, according to a new study.

Conducted by Oxfam, the Women’s Resource Centre and Urban Forum, the research shows that women currently occupy just 28 per cent of board chairs in local strategic partnerships (LSPs) and four out of five LSPs (80 per cent) are failing to monitor representation of women. (more…)

Third sector ‘can help restore faith in politics’

Charities, not-for-profit organisations and their network partners can be instrumental in supporting the prime minister’s drive for a renewed faith in the political system, it has been asserted.

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has made the claim in the wake of prime minister Gordon Brown’s speech yesterday, which called for more to be done to create a cohesive society. (more…)
