Charities ‘need global outlook’
Charities and non-governmental organisations need to look beyond national borders if they are to be successful in the coming years, it is being claimed.
At the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (Acevo) international conference, being held in London this week, delegates are due to be told that they must develop on a global scale and forge links with overseas network partners.
Particularly leadership and accountability in social enterprises and charities are set to be the focus of Network Power: Using Transnational Networks for Innovative Leadership and Good Governance, Third Sector reports.
Filippo Addarii, head of the international programme at Acevo, explains the need for international sustainable efficiencies: "In this emerging multi-polar world, we aim to bring everyone together, turning suspicion into mutual understanding and creating a platform for cross-border cooperation. We also aim to draft a common agenda to tackle global issues."
He described current models adopted by charities as "outdated" and said that the way in which countries now interact was "dramatically shifting.
Acevo’s 20th annual conference is also set to present the findings of the Brooke Inquiry on Governance spearheaded by Sir Rodney Brooke.
