British workers ‘believe they need more training’
The majority of workers believe that their colleagues lack sufficient training to be able to do their jobs properly, new research shows.
In a study conducted by the Association of Colleges (AoC), some 53 per cent of people, which could include those operating in the public sector, think that those working around them require more guidance to be effective in their choice of employment. (more…)
Third sector bodies ‘receive monetary assistance’
A number of third sector organisations could be set to receive financial help, it has emerged.
The news comes as the Unity Trust Bank has rolled out a £50 million social economy fund to provide loans to those working for voluntary organisations, social enterprises and charities. (more…)
Talent management systems ‘need to be used effectively’
Only half of British employers have some type of talent management system set up in the workplace, new studies find.
Research conducted by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Ashridge Business School also reveals that a number of organisations have problems in separating performances from talent management. (more…)
Older workers are “invaluable”
Older people can prove to be an extremely important part of a workforce, it has been claimed.
According to Brendan Barber, general secretary of the Trades Union Congress, age discrimination among employers can lead to a "terrible waste of experience and talent", which may include those people looking for jobs in the public sector. (more…)
‘Optimism noted’ in employment prospects
Employment prospects over the medium and short-term remain optimistic, new figures indicate.
Research released by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and KPMG’s Labour Market Outlook survey reveals that 86 per cent of employers, including those operating in the public sector, intend to recruit staff over the course of the autumn. (more…)
