Online donations can help charities increase “donor loyalty”
Those working in the charity sector could increase loyalty among supporters by allowing them the ability to donate online, it has been suggested.
A study by the Center of Philanthropy at Indiana University revealed that although 65 per cent of respondents have given to a charity over the last 12 months, only a tenth have done so online. (more…)
Local authorities have “unprecedented” chance to develop communities
Local councils and their network partners are set to have more control over the development of their communities, it has emerged.

Third sector to ‘benefit from dormant account cash’
A new batch of legislation is to see money lying in dormant bank accounts invested into various third sector organisations.
Published earlier this week, the Dormant Bank and Building Society Accounts Bill will see cash from accounts in England that have not been used for 15 years transferred to help fund youth services. (more…)
BME charities ‘need to contribute’ to defence of grant funding
Grants are vital in sustaining the work of voluntary organisations, it has been suggested.
The news comes as Vandna Gohil, director of Voice4Change England - an umbrella group for those people working in black and minority ethnic (BME) charities - has supported Navca’s Sustaining Grants pamphlet which is calling on local authorities to maintain grant funding so as to keep a healthy local voluntary sector. Employers ‘need to help staff develop’
The offering of incentives and professional development could help companies, including those operating in the public sector, to retain staff, new figures show.
In research released by FSS and sister firm Crone Corkill, more than 70 per cent of job seekers, who may well be targeted by employees via a regional recruitment portal, state that they would stay with their present position if more opportunities were open to them. (more…)
