Charity-focused social networking site to be launched
A social networking website dedicated to charities and voluntary organisations is due to be rolled out next year.
MyCharityPage.com, which is modelled on sites such as Facebook and MySpace, will allow users to create personal profiles documenting their fundraising activities and their favourite third sector bodies.
In addition, visitors will be able to donate directly to chosen charities and shop online, with voluntary groups earning commission every time that they buy goods or services.
The site also aims to help those working for charities to connect with prospective supporters and fundraisers.
As a result, the news could be of interest to third sector organisations looking to maintain sustainable efficiencies.
Founder of the website Adam Foyster said: "We believe it’s the only UK website of its kind that doesn’t charge commission on donations, so the charity receives the full amount every time.
"The site also presents a real opportunity for charities to interact directly with thousands of new fundraisers."
It is due to launch in January.
Earlier this week, the ICT Foresight Report by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations claimed that charities need to do more to make full use of social networking websites.
More about sustainable efficiencies.
