New survey to boost “intelligence base” of charities

Posted in News on the December 14th, 2007

A charity confidence study is to be rolled out next year, it has emerged.

Launched by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the Charity Prospects Survey will track the opinions of leaders of third sector organisations on current and forecasted trends affecting the industry.

In turn, this will allow the council to make predictions about changes within the voluntary sector on issues such as staffing levels.

Consequently, the news could be of interest to those groups looking to boost sustainable efficiencies.

Karl Wilding, head of research at NCVO, said: "It will increase the intelligence base of the sector and give leaders an advantage that they haven’t had before."

He added that the survey will act as a "valuable tool" for those working in voluntary organisations.

Such bodies will be able to get information on the plans of other third sector groups, which can be organised into categories such as size and region.

Last week, it was revealed that the Soft Outcomes Universal Learning Record, developed by the Research Centre at City College Norwich, is to be rolled out across the country.

The programme aims to help those working in the third sector to demonstrate their accomplishments to management, local authorities and funding bodies.

More about sustainable efficiencies.
