Texting proves ‘effective’ means of communication for charities

Posted in News on the December 14th, 2007

A new text messaging service could help third sector organisations in their campaigning methods, it has emerged.

The news comes as BulkSMS.co.uk has launched Community.BulkSMS.co.uk, which allows those working for charities and voluntary bodies to send out reminders, notifications or alerts via text messages at a reduced cost.

It was suggested that messaging could be used by charities as a call to action for the community.

Dan Perrin, general manager for BulkSMS.co.uk, said: "Text messaging is an efficient means to communicate with a large number of targeted users instantaneously regardless of their location.

"In our experience, third sector organisations are eager to explore the use of text messaging to effectively communicate with their staff, members, beneficiaries, stakeholders or the public."

He added that the initiative would provide charities with "cost benefits" and widen their communications reach.

As a result, this could help such bodies improve their sustainable efficiencies.

Earlier this week, Joe Saxton, co-founder of nfpSynergy, claimed that websites can help charities reach a younger audience.

More about sustainable efficiencies.
