Investment made in regional third sector groups

Posted in News on the December 20th, 2007

Third sector organisations across the country are to receive a funding boost, it has emerged.

The news comes as the Big Lottery Fund has awarded the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (acevo) some £500,000 over the next three years to allocate to those working for charities and voluntary bodies throughout Britain.

Such an investment could well help many charities develop sustainable efficiencies in their working practices.

Chief executive Stephen Bubb said: "I am sure that this substantial grant will allow acevo to build and improve the capacity of the sector."

The money received will be put into improving the training and support available for regional third sector groups on areas such as governance, performance management and procurement.

In addition, acevo will provide bursaries for people looking to get involved with the organisation’s leadership development programme, which could see third sector bodies improve their skills portal.

It was earlier revealed that the National Council for Voluntary Organisations is inviting voluntary bodies and community organisations to join a new bursary scheme to learn more about winning contracts for public services.

More about sustainable efficiencies.
