Funding boost for local councils
Local authorities in England are set to receive a boost in funding over the coming years, it has emerged.
In an announcement by local government minister John Healey, the public sector bodies are to see a total increase of £8.97 billion in financial expenditure in the next three years. (more…)
Investment made into Supporting People initiative
Some £4.9 billion is to be released in funding for the Supporting People programme during the next three years, it has emerged.
In an announcement by communities minister Baroness Andrews, the investment will help more than a million vulnerable Britons live independently in accommodation each year, news that could be of interest to third sector bodies and those seeking social work jobs via a regional recruitment portal. Growth noted in community funds
The Community Foundation Network (CFN) has announced that the sum of money held by its 56 members in endowments, pledges and legacies is now worth more than £200 million.
Community funds have experienced strong growth and record endowments over the past four years, with the money available to community foundations now more than double the amount in 2003. (more…)
People are “key” for the voluntary sector
Leaders from the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (aveco) have predicted the challenges that the industry faces in the coming years, it has emerged.
In a report drawn up in conjunction with Zurich, economics, society, technology and the environment were listed as some of key drivers of change effecting those working in the third sector over the next 20 years. (more…)
Third sector training survey launched
A questionnaire evaluating the training needs of those with jobs in the third sector in the north-east of England has been launched, it has emerged
The North East Third Sector Skills Survey 2007-08 by Voluntaryskills.com aims to assess any current gaps in the provision of training and if there are any barriers to learning for third sector workers across the region. (more…)
