Sustainability ‘can bring business benefits’
Sustainability is to be the focus of this year’s National Learning at Work Day (NLWD), it has emerged.
Taking place on May 22nd, the day aims to help both employers and employees, which could include those working in the public sector, to become more conscious about the environment and how they can affect the impact that they have on it.
In addition employers will be encouraged to ensure they help staff maintain a good work-life balance, while there will also be a focus on improving lifelong skills.
Overall, the event may help organisations and groups to boost their sustainable efficiencies.
Promoted by the Campaign for Learning, the institution hopes that "organisations and employees will use the day to learn skills and working practices that will not only sustain the planet but also help them make changes that result in business benefits".
Earlier this month, a BT study indicated that about two-thirds of public sector bodies believe they are taking "significant steps" in improving their impact on the environment, with 29 per cent reporting they are doing all they can.
However, only a fifth of the general public state that the sector is focusing the most on being socially and environmentally responsible.
More about sustainable efficiencies.
