Workers ‘keen to receive training’
Employees think that more consideration should be given to training in the workplace, new research shows.
A study carried out by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) indicated that 42 per cent of workers believe their employer is unlikely to allow them to take part in training programmes.
However, the LSC report indicated that over half of the supervisors surveyed, which may include those working in the public sector, claimed that they would give their staff time off for such purposes.
Glenn Robinson, director of Train to Gain, said: "Feedback has shown that employees of all levels are keen to push their boundaries and where better to start than by training."
By offering a skills portal for their staff, however, employers could find that workers are more effective in the workplace.
Such news may be of particular interest to businesses, including those operating for charities and voluntary groups.
Last month, John Denham, secretary of state for innovation, universities and skills, claimed that employers should do more to improve the skills framework of their workers.
