Posted in News on the February 28th, 2008

Durham county council is providing a value for money service, it has been claimed.

In a report by the Audit Commission, those working for the public sector body were stated to be performing well and helping to improve the quality of life for local residents.

Strong leadership and improving the health of residents were among the other elements that the council was praised for.

Audit Commission senior manager Sarah Diggle said: "It is encouraging to see the progress the council is making in tackling the key issues which face local people.

"Services are generally good and are improving further, particularly in services which the council has identified as being of greatest priority."

Ms Diggle went on to report that the local authority is also working well with a variety of network partners.

As part of its corporate assessment report, the commission reported that Leicestershire county council is offering a progressively improving service.

More about network partners.
