Those working for the public sector in Yorkshire could be set to benefit from a new funding initiative, it has emerged.

Along with Yorkshire Forward and other network partners, Richmondshire district council is to unlock some £1.5 million in finance for local communities.

The funding will finance a number of schemes with proposals including the development of cycling and pedestrian links between Richmond and Catterick Garrison, in addition to a business grants initiative.

Councillor Russell Lord said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Yorkshire Forward to deliver this exciting new scheme.

"It’s a new way of doing things and we’re confident we can make it a big success."

Lighting and street signs will also be improved.

Such news may interest those seeking jobs in the public sector.

In January, the department of the environment announced that some £2 million in funding had been released to local authorities operating in Northern Ireland.
