Third sector groups given sustainability guidance

Posted in News on the March 7th, 2008

A new publication has been launched to help people working for third sector organisations to adopt eco-friendly practices within their office space, it has been revealed.

The Changing the Way We Work guide by Every Action Counts offers such institutions advice on how to cut down on energy usage and source goods ethically.

Among the document’s proposals are opening and closing windows to maintain air flow instead of using air conditioning systems, in addition setting up a mileage allowance scheme to allow members of staff to cycle to work.

Following on from such guidance it is possible that those working for voluntary and community groups will be abele to better maintain sustainable efficiencies.

The initiative comes from a consortium of various environmental and community institutions including led by the Community Development Foundation and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

It was revealed earlier this year that sustainability will be the focus for this year’s National Learning at Work Day on May 22nd.

More about sustainable efficiencies.
