Government makes voluntary sector investment

A multimillion pound investment has been pledged to those working in the voluntary sector, it has emerged.

The government has announced that a fund of £2 million is to be created to help people with disabilities to access opportunities to volunteers.

Meanwhile, some £4 million will go towards establishing new training programmes for Britons working for voluntary and community organisations, in addition to their managers.

Following on from such investment, it may be possible that leaders within the third sector are able to improve the skills framework for their staff.

Phil Hope, minister for the third sector, said: "The government is committed to opening up volunteering opportunities for people in all parts of society, because it gives so much to the community and so much to the volunteer."

The funding follows the Manifesto for Change report by the Commission on the Future of Volunteering.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that public sector groups in Yorkshire are to receive a total of £1.5 million funding from Richmondshire district council, Yorkshire Forward and other network partners.
