New voluntary guide launched
A new publication has been launched today (March 17th) targeting those who work for voluntary organisations, it has emerged.
Designed by GoldStar, the guide offers advice for such institutions when working with people from disadvantaged backgrounds, Third Sector reports.
Entitled the Good Practice Handbook, it highlights the benefits a third sector group can gain by having a team of volunteers made up of differing elements of society.
Furthermore, the publication offers advice to community and voluntary organisations on ways in which to target and communicate with new volunteers.
Barry Coleman, project director for the government organisation, said: "As well as having a positive impact on local communities, these volunteering opportunities help people who might otherwise feel on the margins of society gain confidence and skills that will help them to progress in the future."
In taking on volunteers from varying backgrounds, leaders within the third sector could find the skills framework of their staff is increased.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Can has launched a new website allowing social enterprises to form links with similar organisations.
