Charities invited to apply for funding
Those with jobs at voluntary and charity groups who work with former prisoners are being invited to apply for a multimillion pound funding programme, it has been revealed.
Operated by Lloyds TSB, the initiative aims to help support third sector groups which work with former offenders to reintegrate them into normal society.
The fund is worth some £4 million overall.
Linda Kelly, chief executive of the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, said: "Our evaluation raised an important issue, that for charities working with ex-prisoners a longer-term funding commitment is required to enable a difference to be made for individual beneficiaries and the continued work of the charity."
Applicants can request a minimum grant of £20,000 with funding available for a period of up to three years.
Following on from such investment it may be possible that charities are able to maintain their sustainable efficiencies.
Earlier this year, third sector groups were invited by the Community Development Foundation to apply for the Grassroots Grants scheme to help provide funds to smaller community groups.
