Expense rules for charities ‘may change’
Those working for voluntary groups and charities may be able to claim expenses for childcare and travelling, it has been revealed.
Later this week, the House of Lords is to debate amending the employment bill which, if it passed, will see restrictions on voluntary expenses removed.

Futurebuilders invites Newcastle charities to advice session
Those who operate for voluntary groups and charities in the north-east are being invited to attend a free advisory session.
Operated by Futurebuilders England, the surgery will see charity workers in Newcastle that are looking to deliver public services given guidance on how to apply for funding.

Recruiters in local government must start reaching out to the Facebook generation, says Richard Tyrie.
Local government is facing a recruitment timebomb. It’s the end of baby boomers’ working lives. Nearly one-third of local government staff are scheduled to retire in the next decade. This loss of senior and highly knowledgeable talent needs to be planned for.

Charities asked for views on local councils
People working for charities are to be questioned on whether they believe their councils are doing enough to support them, it has been revealed.
In proposals by the department for communities and local government, it has emerged that a random selection of the 97,000 charities throughout England will be surveyed on how local authorities are creating "an environment for a thriving third sector".

Government makes voluntary sector investment
A multimillion pound investment has been pledged to those working in the voluntary sector, it has emerged.
The government has announced that a fund of £2 million is to be created to help people with disabilities to access opportunities to volunteers.
