Charities to receive financial assistance
Feedback on inefficient grant-making trusts could lead to local charities gaining financial aid worth millions of pounds, it has been revealed.
The Boost Initiative, organised by the Community Foundation for Merseyside, is calling for those working for charities to provide information about trusts which have problems in distributing funds quickly and effectively.

Charities ’should use older people’s skills’
Charities should be looking to improve their skills framework by attracting older people to work for their organisation, it has been suggested.
Karen Wisdom, research director at Ipsos Mori, reflecting on her own organisation’s latest study, said that there is a clear opportunity for charities to tap in to the skills and experience of retired people across Britain.

‘More investment needed’ for third sector
There needs to be more funding for those working for charities and voluntary groups, it has been suggested.
In the Management Matters study, carried out by the Institute for Volunteering Research, it was revealed that more than one in four voluntary groups do not have sufficient funds to allow them to support volunteers.

Charities ‘to receive financial boost’
Those working for charities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) could be in line for a funding boost, it has emerged.
Overall it is revealed that some £20 million is to be made available by the Department for International Development towards such organisations.

NCVYS advises accreditation for youth volunteers
People working for voluntary organisations involved with young people should have the chance to pursue qualifications and development opportunities, it has been suggested.
According to the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS), such volunteers should be required to have a portfolio of work indicating what training and experience they have. From here they would then receive a certificate or card identifying themselves as a volunteer youth worker, ThirdSector reports.
