RNID releases guidance for charities

The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) has published a new guide for those working for charities and voluntary organisations, it has been revealed.

Aimed at helping third sector groups to communicate to those people with hearing difficulties, Sound Solutions looks to offer guidance on how they can meet obligations within the workplace in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.

Mark Catling, director of business development at RNID Products, stated: “We have produced Sound Solutions as an easy-to-follow guide for charities wanting to become accessible to deaf and hard of hearing service users and staff.”

He added that the publication offers support in a variety of areas related to RNID Products including maintenance and installation.

RNID Products is a sector of the charity which aids sensory products for people who are deaf or are hard of hearing.

Such guidance could help charities to improve the skills framework of their staff.

Earlier this month Jim Mather, enterprise minister for the Scottish parliament, claimed that those working for the third sector are often “best placed to connect with those individuals the public sector finds hardest to reach”.
