Art charities offered conflicts of interest advice
New guidance has been issued by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Charity Commission (CC) for those working for charities involved in the arts.
The information looks at conflict of loyalty and how to manage trustees’ direct and indirect financial gain.

Bury council makes use of skills portal
Bury metropolitan borough council has improved the way it measures the skills of those working for the public sector body following the take-up of a skills portal, it has been revealed.
Using JGP’s Skills Portal Solution, the Greater Manchester-based local authority has been able to identify and address shortfalls in the ability of staff members.

Charities ‘able to analyse accountability’
People working for charities and voluntary organisations will soon be able to compare themselves to other charitable institutions, it has been revealed.
Later this month, the ImpACT coalition is to release an online toolkit which will ask third sector groups questions about governance, communications and statutory reporting.

Defra announces PFI investment for local authorities
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has announced a funding boost for those working in the public sector, it has emerged.
Four local authorities across England have received a private finance initiative (PFI) investment to help improve their waste management.
Housing association workers ‘offering more financial guidance’
Those working in the housing sector should provide financial advice to their tenants, it has been suggested.
According to the National Housing Federation (NHF), an increasing number of housing associations are offering services such as choosing loans and how to manage debt towards residents.
