ICP releases new definition for the third sector
The Institute of Commissioning Professionals (ICP) has published a new definition of what it does for those who are working in the third sector, it has been revealed.
A recently-released definition of commissioners released by the institute reads: "Commissioning means securing the services that most appropriately address the needs and wishes of the individual service user, making use of market intelligence and research and planning accordingly."

Social stock exchange approaches launch
A stock exchange for those working for UK-based social enterprises is to be launched next year, it has been revealed.
Developed by Pradeep Jethi and Mark Campanale as a means of improving access to funding for social businesses, the exchange is set to go live in 2009 should it receive the relevant approval from the Financial Services Authority and various regulatory bodies.

Charity legislation comes into effect
New legislation relating to those working for charities has come into force, it has been revealed.
The law means that organisations operating within the third sector must now prove their activities are both of benefit to members of the public and that they have a charitable purpose.

West Midlands charities offered funding guidance
Those working for charity groups in the West Midlands are being invited to attend a training session later this month, it has been revealed.
On April 16th, South Shropshire Voluntary Action (SSVA) and Herefordshire Voluntary Action (HVA) will run The Funding Lunch - a free event targeting third sector workers in both Herefordshire and Shropshire.
Acevo offers procurement guidance to charity
The Association of Chief Executives for Voluntary Organisations (Acevo) has published a number of online-based guides offering advice to charities, it has been revealed
Covering topics such as tendering, VAT and negotiation, the four advisory packs aim to help those working for charities to secure public sector contracts.
