Charities feature on most useful web list
Those working for charities have featured on a list of the most useful websites, it has been revealed.
A guide published by the Daily Telegraph revealed that of the 101 recommended online portals five of those to make the chart were charitable organisations.

Cost changes announced for criminal record checks
Those wishing to work with children and vulnerable adults are set to be required to pay £64 in order for official checks to be carried out.
From October of next year, people - which could include those working in the third sector - will be required to pay £28 to register with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).

Audit Commission takes on housing benefit inspection
The Audit Commission has announced that it has taken on new responsibilities following local government white paper proposals made in 2006.
Housing and council tax benefits assessment, previously within the remit of the Benefit Fraud Inspectorate, will now be conducted by those with public sector jobs at the commission, it reports today.

Capacitybuilders launches new support services
Nine new support services for the ChangeUp infrastructure programme have started today (April 1st), it has been revealed.
Operated by Capacitybuilders, the new initiatives are to replace the six national hubs of expertise, Third Sector reports.

Scottish charities ‘advised to work with local councils’
Changes in funding allocations for third sector organisations in Scotland should allow those with jobs at voluntary bodies to work more closely with the public sector, it has been claimed.
Paul White, director of networks at the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), has welcomed the opportunity presented by the end of ring-fenced funding for Councils for Voluntary Service and Volunteer Centres set to occur in 2011.
