Employee engagement ‘is crucial’
During the current climate of economic uncertainty, employee engagement will become an evermore important issue, it has been suggested.
According to Katie Roberts, engagement development manager for health and beauty retail chain Boots, as house prices fall and consumer spending levels drop employers should take the time to engage with their workforce and make sure that communication is at the heart of their human resources (HR) operations.
She said: "It’s crucial to engage with employees, particularly in difficult times.
"The crunch can be used to demonstrate how serious you are about your employees."
Such news may be of interest to leaders operating within the third sector looking to improve their talent management capabilities.
Meanwhile, Dr David Pendleton, senior consultant at Edgecumbe, claimed that is no better time for an organisation to demonstrate its intentions and plans for the future than during "difficult times".
A recent study by the Boston Consulting Group and the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations revealed that managing staff is to be the most important issue for HR teams over the coming months.
