Charities should ‘avoid putting money into high street banks’
It is important for charities to invest their money wisely, an industry expert has reported.
According to James Bevan, investment officer at CCLA, those operating in the third sector could be losing out on millions of pounds each year by placing cash in high street bank accounts.

Community groups ‘to receive start-up assistance’
A new website has been launched aimed at helping those working for community projects and services across England and Wales to advertise their services, it has been reported.
Rolled out by social enterprise Community Projects, the site will provide free online advertising space for community groups, in addition to offering help with applying for grants and start-up guidance.

Charities offered energy usage guidance
Those working for charities and voluntary groups are being offered advice on how to combat the impact of rising utility bills, it has been reported.
Launched by Gazprom and Bizzenergy, the Charity Utility Initiative (CUI) will assist organisations operating within the third sector in identifying ways in which they can cut their energy usage.

Voluntary groups ‘invited to apply for funding’
Voluntary organisations operating within London are being invited to apply for a seven-figure funding scheme, it has been revealed.
Operated by London Councils, the initiative will give such institutions financial assistance in tackling the poverty issues faced by families in the capital as pointed out by the London Child Poverty Commission.

Internet ‘can launch successful campaigns’ for charities
The internet can be a useful promotion tool for those working for charities, it has been suggested.
According to Henry Palmer, director of Society Media, the opportunities offered by the internet can allow voluntary and charitable institutions to launch "really successful" profile-raising campaigns in a cost-effective manner.
