Charities ‘better than private sector at lobbying MPs’
In research carried out by nfpSynergy, 76 per cent of members of parliament across all three major political parties questioned reported that those working in the third sector are better at lobbying than private companies.
Meanwhile, 92 per cent of Liberal Democrats surveyed strongly agree with the statement that "charities are more effective at campaigning amongst MPs than companies".

Green reporting standard ’should be created for charities’
The Charity Finance Directors’ Group (CFDG) is creating a social and environmental reporting standard for those working in the third sector, it has been revealed.
Moves by the institution come after a recent study showed that just four out of the country’s top 50 charities commented on green topics during their annual reports.

Charities ‘need to be transparent’
It is important for charities to be transparent, it has been claimed.
Speaking at the annual Charity Finance Directors’ Group conference, Michael Hammer, executive director of the One World Trust, reported that those working for third sector groups should have a board member whose responsibility is to ensure transparency when dealing with various groups including the government, beneficiaries, donors and their employees.

Charities ‘face pension pressures’
A significant number of charities could be facing difficulties in regards to their pension schemes, it has been suggested.
In the 2008 Charity Pension Maze report by the Charity Finance Directors’ Group (CFDG), those working for charities were urged to be proactive in the governance of pension programmes.

Website created to assist charities with online donations
A new website has been created to help charities manage tribute funds online, it has been revealed.
Created by Our Lasting Tribute and Whitewater, the site allows those working for voluntary and charitable organisations to assist donors to pay tribute to someone who has died while also raising funds for their chosen charity at the same time.
