Nesta launches new support initiative

A new initiative offering support for those operating in the voluntary sector has been launched, it has emerged.

With backing from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (Nesta) and the Innovation Exchange, the Nesta Innovation Exchange Fund will provide grants of between £10,000 and £40,000.

Meanwhile, the Innovation Exchange is a partnership of social networking software firm Headshift, the government’s Innovation Unit and the Association of Chief Executives for Voluntary Organisations (acevo).

The scheme provides financial backing and guidance to organisations who either work with young people who are excluded or those who have independent living issues.

Set up last year, the exchange will give bespoke coaching support as well as put on a number of events targeting charities.

After receiving such finding it may be possible that third sector groups are able to improve the skills framework of their operations.

It was recently revealed that aveco and the department of work and pensions have launched an initiative aimed at getting people off welfare and back into the workplace.
