Third sector HR staff ‘advised to work with smaller charities’
Those working for large human resources (HR) teams within the third sector should work with smaller charities, it has been reported.
According to the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (acevo) larger HR groups should forge links as network partners with smaller organisations, offering free advice on grievance cases.
In a report by acevo it was indicated that HR staff working for small charities often have little or no specialist training in workplace relations and as such are unable to introduce effective disciplinary and grievance procedures.
Stephen Bubb, chief executive for acevo, told Personnel Today: "I would like to see more collaboration between charities of different sizes."
"There are benefits for both parties and it can help build a more professional sector," he added.
Guy Pink, HR director for alcohol and drug addiction charity Addaction, claimed that should smaller charities receive assistance from HR professionals than they may be able to improve their overall approach to human resources.
In recent days, Leighton Andrews, deputy regeneration minister for the National Assembly for Wales, claimed charities, local councils and private sector bodies should work together more often.
More about network partners.
