Social enterprises ’should explore new partnerships’

Those working for social enterprises looking to expand their services should ‘think outside of the box’ when it comes to forming links with prospective network partners, it has been suggested.

Speaking at Social Enterprise London’s Connecting London conference, Allison Ogden-Newton, chief executive of the organisation, said: "If social enterprises are to achieve size and scale, they are going to have to explore new partnerships and think outside the box."

Meanwhile, David Richardson, strategic sales director of support services company Serco, stated that there could be a future in social enterprises, public sector contractors and private sector clients working together to make a joint tender for public service contracts.

Earlier this month, Phil Hope, minister of the third sector, unveiled a £6 million investment for social enterprises.

Speaking at the annual CapacityBuilders conference, Mr Hope stated that the fund will be made available over the next three years and will help such organisations target emerging markets and get help from accredited advisers and helping social enterprises to target emerging markets.
