Charities ‘need long-term skills strategy’
Improving the skills framework of staff is a large challenge for those operating in the third sector, it has been reported.
Research released by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) and the UK Workforce Hub showed that, although the number of formal training opportunities and qualifications available have increased over recent years, they have not always matched the specific needs of either an organisation in the third sector or an individual.

Third sector to receive performance management software
A new piece of software is being developed specifically for those working for charities, it has emerged.
Worked on by COA Solutions the program aims to help third sector organisations to calculate whether they are meeting various targets.

Charities are ‘enhancing lives’
Those working for charities offer numerous benefits to the public, it has been reported.
In research by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) it was revealed that people receive more services from the third sector than they originally believed.

Calls for European volunteering year put forward
Community Service Volunteers (CSV) has called on British MPs to back plans for a European year of volunteering, it has emerged.
The charity has urged the 78 UK members of the European parliament to support dedicating 2011 to those working in the voluntary sector.

First charity to benefit from Futurebuilders scheme revealed
A group of charity workers has benefited from a support scheme provided by Futurebuilders, it has been revealed.
It has emerged that educational charity Dyslexia Action has a received a loan worth some £30,000 in order to meet tendering costs for public sector contracts.
