Surrey council ‘working well with partners’

Surrey county council has been praised for its work with network partners, it has been revealed.

In a report by the Audit Commission, those working for the public sector body were deemed to be operating effectively with its partners within the Surrey Strategic Partnership and as such were deemed to be "performing well".

Among the areas the council was praised for were the offering of good services for young people and understanding the needs of its residents.

Paul Chambers, senior manager for the Audit Commission, said: "The council is taking action to make sure that services continue to improve and that underperformance, notably in services for children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, is addressed quickly."

In addition, the local authority’s provision of waste management, highways and adult social care were shown to have improved since the commission’s previous corporate assessment report.

Last year, it was revealed that Surrey county council had been selected as one of eight finalists for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s People Management Award.
