Government looks to improve Gift Aid

Posted in News on the July 2nd, 2008

The government has announced plans to improve Gift Aid and payroll giving for those working for charities, it has been reported.

At the Charity Tax Group’s (CTG) annual general meeting, it was stated that as the amount of money that voluntary and charitable organisations have received from such donation systems has increased over the last ten years, improvements need to be made in regards to their efficiency.

Furthermore, the CTG also reported on concerns in regards to irrecoverable VAT and substantial donor legislation, ThirdSector.co.uk reports.

Jane Kennedy, financial secretary to the Treasury, said: "We want to make sure we’re using both payroll giving and Gift Aid as effectively as we possibly can."

Following on from receiving such assistance it may be possible that third sector bodies are able to improve sustainable efficiencies in relation to their operations.

In other news, Futurebuilders recently unveiled a new initiative which helps those working for charities to apply for financial assistance when bidding for public service contracts.

More about sustainable efficiencies.
