North-east charities issued with leadership guidance

Posted in News on the July 2nd, 2008

Those working for charity and voluntary groups across the north-east have been issued with new support, it has been revealed.

Moves by voluntary organisation’s network north east (VONNE) - the regional infrastructure body for the third sector - have released a new strategy giving managers at charitable institutions advice on how leadership can help their organisations be more effective.

Jo Curry, senior policy and development manager for VONNE, said: "The strategy seeks to make sure people from all parts of the sector benefit, whether they be chief executives or unpaid volunteers."

She added that the initiative also provides a chance for the third sector to form a united vision which will be of benefit to the entire north-east.

It is possible that upon receiving such guidance charities in the area find that their skills framework is improved.

Last month a £30 million fund was unveiled for charities operating in Scotland to help them become financially sustainable.
