Social enterprises ‘hold optimism’

Those working for social enterprises are not concerned about the impact of the credit crunch, it has been revealed.

In research carried out by the Social Enterprise Coalition it was revealed that about nine in ten (87 per cent) of those working in the third sector believe that the overall business prospects for such enterprises are either good or satisfactory.

Third sector ’should work with faith organisations’

When working alongside those in the third sector, local faith organisations can serve their communities more effectively, it has been reported.

In the recently released Believing in Local Action study, it was revealed that in operating as network partners, religious groups and local infrastructure organisations can share resources and attract more funding.

Charities invited to apply for hospice funding

Those working for charities are being invited to apply for monetary assistance from a new government grant, it has been revealed.

Announced earlier this week, the Department of Health has unveiled a multimillion pound fund for those providing care for people reaching the end of their lives.

Lottery funding for charities ‘could increase’

The amount available for charity lotteries via proceeds and jackpot thresholds could be set to rise, it has been revealed.

Proposals by sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe could see the maximum proceeds given to those working for charities double from the current figure of £2 million to £4 million, meanwhile individual jackpots could increase to £400,000.
