Government proposes single equality bill
Proposals for a single equality bill were today published by the government.
The Discrimination Law Review (DLR) will aim to prevent discrimination in the workplace by making equality law clearer.
The bill is looking to simplify and improve existing legislation as well as make proposals to modernise discrimination law. (more…)
New report puts shared services under scrutiny
A new report has put shared services in Britain under scrutiny.
Commissioned by the Australian Institute for Social Research and the Public Service Association and published by The European Services Strategy Unit at Northumbria University, the report examines various models and examples of public sector shared services. (more…)
eProcurement Scotland honoured with award
An award for outstanding achievement has been won by eProcurement Scotland at the annual Government Opportunities (GO) magazine Excellence in Public Procurement Awards.
The coveted winner’s trophy in the e-government category was handed to the service in recognition of its outstanding contribution towards innovative procurement technology and efficiency. (more…)
Councils achieve high uptake for online services
Councils’ online services are achieving a high public uptake and saving the taxpayer large amounts of money, a new report shows.
The SocitmInsight report, entitled ‘Better marketed: achieving success with online services’, found that online services are providing a platform for significant cuts in areas such as advertising costs. (more…)
Vote over local government in Somerset
West Somerset council has organised a vote to gather opinion on the future of local government in the county.
Residents will be given the opportunity to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to Somerset county council’s proposed new unitary authority.
West Somerset council, which stands to lose some of its powers if the proposal is successful, is urging voters to reject the plan. (more…)
